Welcome to Live Wire Rat Terriers! ( LWRT)!  We're glad ya stopped by. We are located just outside Fort Smith, Arkansas, on 20 acres full of trees and plenty of nature to train and enjoy. 

My dog journey began as a child. I've always loved them. Even crawling in the neighbors dog house and getting bit in the face didn’t slow me down! Then the lip...another neighbor...back of the head...yes...another neighbor! Ha ha. Good thing we moved! I met a gal who showed Afghan hounds and she took me under her wing and that was just the start !  I showed JRs and learned a lot. But then another move where I ended up in California training personal protection dogs and private security. So many great memories. For fun we had Toy Fox Terriers and my son and I had a wonderful time showing them when we weren't doing our GSD's.  Then the horse bug hit us...we showed and competed horses as well. On to Catahoula's…showed, competed and judged....my life has always been fulfilled with animals. We owned a feed store and a boarding stable ....we got into the draft horses and did a lot of weddings and funerals--we caught ya coming and going! 

As life evolves as times change...I tragically lost my son.  Late one night reminiscing, I decided some of my happiest moments were with my dogs and in an effort to feel close to my son...Live Wire Rat Terriers ( LWRT) was born...in memory of my son Robert William Marques.

Our breeding program is designed to produce rat terriers that are healthy, happy, and well-adjusted. We carefully select our breeding pairs based on various factors, including health, temperament, and conformation. Our rat terriers are raised in a loving and nurturing environment, and we take great care to ensure they receive the best possible care and socialization.
